What equipment do you use?

Poor equipment is the hallmark of an amateur event or wedding DJ. It’s also not something anyone booking a professional DJ service should have to worry about. But unfortunately, the reality of planning an event is that you need to know your vendor’s professionalism ahead of time. And a DJ is only as good as their gear. They may be the best at mixing music. But if the DJ equipment is an eyesore and their speakers crackle, no one remembers transitions. They remember how the sounds themselves hurt their ears and the DJ set-up was unsightly. That’s why at Luxury Event Co., we only use cutting-edge equipment. No intrusive wires or busted speakers.

Will the DJ play requests?

We take requests and may play some of them. We filter requests, meaning I will not play a song that you specifically asked the DJ not to play or music from a genre you asked the DJ not to play. We will not play songs off of Youtube when asked. If someone makes a request that fits in well with what the DJ is playing at the time and with the music the client wants, then the DJ may play the request. We have an online planning system that will allow you to make request lists before the event.

Can we bring our own music for the DJ to play?

Sure, but we would like to get the music file(s) in advance of the event. If doing this please consider the audience attending your event.

What are your payment terms?

The deposit is required at the time of booking and the remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the event date. Payments can be made through our online planning system using a debit or credit card.

Do I tip the DJ?

We do not include gratuity in the final contract price. 10 – 20% is generally recommended if your DJ did a great job, but it is entirely up to you.

When should I book my DJ?

A good time frame is at least six months before the event. However, we might be available for last minute events as well. Click Here to check date availability.

Should we feed the DJ?

This is not required in my contract and is completely up to you. Typically, the catering director or event coordinator will set aside a meal or boxed dinner for the DJ if requested by the client.

What services do you offer?

We offer DJ services for wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate events, private parties, and school functions. We offer lighting options (up-lighting and dance floor lighting), First Dance in The Clouds, and Photobooth.

How many songs should I request?

You can select songs that you would like to hear at your event (as well as songs you don’t want to hear) through our online planning system. You will receive login information for that system in an email with your contract. The number of songs you request is totally up to you! We recommend giving your DJ at least 10-15 songs of different genres and artists that you would like to hear. A few songs/artists that you don’t want to hear is always helpful as well. If you end up requesting a lot of songs, just keep in mind the time constraints of your event. During your initial consultation, your DJ will ask about your music preferences.

How long have you been DJing?

We have over 20 years professional DJing experience.

I am a certified wedding planner and have coordinated many weddings with Shane as the DJ. Shane has great customer service skills, excellent and timely communication, works very well with both the couple and all vendors for the wedding. There are times when wedding day details have to be changed due to weather or unforeseen circumstances and Shane takes those changes in stride and adjusts accordingly. I feel Shane always goes above and beyond for the couple. I highly recommend Shane for any couple looking for a DJ for their wedding day.
